What to check before buying

• Draw style — MTL devices give a tight, cigarette-like draw. DTL devices give an open draw and far more vapour.
• Wattage range — Every device has a working range. Going above it burns the coil; going below it leaves the flavour flat.
• Tank capacity — A larger tank means fewer refills per day, but a bigger and heavier device.
• Battery — The mAh figure tells you roughly how long a charge lasts. High-power devices drain it faster.
• Airflow — The airflow ring controls how tight the draw is: close it down for MTL, open it up for DTL.

First use — priming the coil

• Wick it — Drop e-liquid directly onto the coil's cotton ports before fitting it.
• Let it sit — Fill the tank and leave it standing for 10 to 15 minutes before the first puff.
• Start low — Begin at the lowest wattage and climb gradually until the flavour is where you want it.

Daily care

• Charging — Use a cable and charger matched to the device, and don't leave it charging overnight.
• Storage — Keep it out of direct sun and out of a parked car in summer.
• Cleaning — Wipe the mouthpiece and the connection with a dry cloth regularly.

How is a vape device different from a disposable?

A device is refilled, recoiled and recharged, so it costs less over time. A disposable arrives filled and charged and ends when the e-liquid runs out.

How long does a coil last?

Usually one to three weeks, depending on the e-liquid, the wattage and how much you vape. The first sign it is going is a drop in flavour followed by a burnt taste.

Why did it taste burnt on day one?

Almost always an unprimed coil, wattage above the coil's range, or a tank running low on e-liquid.

Which e-liquid suits my device?

MTL devices pair with higher-strength salt nicotine. Open DTL devices pair with 60ml freebase at lower strengths.

My device is leaking — what now?

Check the coil is seated properly, don't fill past the line, and avoid pulling hard on a tight MTL setup.

Can I use any charger?

Use a charger matched to the device's specification. High-output fast chargers heat the battery unnecessarily and shorten its life.
